How parking providers can recover unpaid PCNs

Thursday, 25th July 2024 12:27

Parking providers must now make reasonable endeavours to establish correct correspondence addresses of drivers and keepers

The British Parking Association’s recently published code of practice advises the action car parking providers should take when recovering unpaid penalty charge notices. It states:

“If a driver, keeper or hire company does not respond to a notice or subsequent correspondence, or a parking charge has not been paid in full, reasonable endeavours must be undertaken by the parking operator and/or its appointed debt resolution agent to establish the correct correspondence details of the driver, keeper or hire company before commencing enforcement action”

As an IPC Accredited Service Provider, we partner with several leading providers in the parking sector to reconnect them with the drivers of unpaid PCNs and improve collection outcomes. We can provide confirmed addresses for drivers and keepers.

When DVLA records are not up to date, it can be frustrating to recover overdue parking charges, especially when often it is habitual offenders who understand keeping track of their whereabouts is a challenge. We offer an electronic trace service which will take volume data and confirm addresses within four days, enabling your internal credit control to pick up the thread. In addition to this, our clients often take our Propensity to Pay scoring to establish if the subject has the means to pay the outstanding fine. We will always advise on the best processes to suit your particular organisation.
